Privacy policy.

Last updated: November 2026

This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information this website collects, why, and what your rights are. The website is operated by KCM Group Ltd, trading as Chris Mackie (“I”, “me”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16834034) with its registered office at 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF. I’m the data controller for the information described below.

What I collect

  • Enquiries. If you use the contact form or email me, I collect the details you provide: typically your name, email address, company, phone number and the message itself.
  • Website analytics, only if you agree. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics records how the site is used. See Website analytics below.
  • Technical logs. Like any web server, mine records technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and troubleshooting.

Private quote pages

If I send you a quote, the email contains a private link to a page with the quote on it. When you use that page, I record:

  • Visits and actions. Each time the link is opened, and when you press “View your quote”, ask for a new link, or sign or decline the quote, I record the date and time, your IP address and your browser type.
  • Signing. If you sign, I keep the name and role you type, your confirmation that you can sign for your organisation, the date and time, your IP address and browser, and the email address the link was sent to, as the record of what was agreed.
  • Declining. If you decline, I keep the reason you choose and any note you add.
  • Emails. Copies of the emails about the quote (the link email, confirmations and updates) are stored with the quote, without the private link itself.

When you press “View your quote”, a cookie is set that keeps the quote tied to your browser, so a forwarded link can’t be used by someone else. It lasts 14 days and isn’t used for anything else. The page also uses the standard technical cookies its buttons need to work securely.

Website analytics

Without your consent, this website sends nothing to Google or any other analytics provider and sets no analytics cookies. The only thing it keeps is a note of your choice, in your own browser (see Cookies). The server’s technical logs described above still apply.

If you accept analytics, the site loads Google Analytics, which records the pages you visit, the site you came from, your device and browser type, your screen size, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address) and a random identifier stored in a cookie so repeat visits can be counted. I use it only to see which pages are read and how people find the site, so I can improve it. It doesn’t tell me who you are.

I’ve set it up to collect as little as possible: IP addresses are anonymised, Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, nothing is used for advertising, and page addresses are sent without anything after a “?” or “#”. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Google LLC processes this data for me as a processor. It may be transferred to, and stored in, countries outside the UK, including the United States, under the safeguards in Google’s data processing terms. My legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Why I use it, and my legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, prepare a quote or proposal (legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract).
  • To show you a quote privately and keep a reliable record of whether it was accepted (steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and legitimate interests).
  • To keep the website secure and working properly (legitimate interests).
  • If you accept analytics, to understand how the site is used so I can improve it (your consent).

I won’t add you to a marketing list unless you ask me to, and I will never sell your information.

Who I share it with

Only the service providers needed to run the website and handle your enquiry, such as hosting and email delivery, and, if you accept analytics, Google (see Website analytics). They process information on my behalf and under appropriate terms. Some may be based outside the UK; where that happens I rely on appropriate safeguards. I may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long I keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards (for example, to pick up a conversation later). If we work together, I keep project records for as long as legal and accounting rules require. You can ask me to delete your enquiry at any time.

Cookies

This website uses no advertising cookies. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. These are the items it can store in your browser:

NameWhat it doesHow long
cm-consentEssential. Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics. Kept in your browser’s local storage, not sent anywhere.Up to 6 months, then you’re asked again
_gaAnalytics, only after you accept. Google Analytics: a random identifier used to count visitors.6 months
_ga_R6X0NWMC8NAnalytics, only after you accept. Google Analytics: keeps track of the current visit.6 months

Changing your mind. Use the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of any page. If you reject analytics there, it stops straight away and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. You can also clear this site’s cookies and data in your browser, and you’ll be asked again on your next visit.

Client pages. The separate logged-in pages at app.chris-mackie.co.uk, including the private quote pages, use only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps the pages working securely and, on quote pages, the cookie described above that ties a quote to your browser. They use no analytics.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how I use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@chris-mackie.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, though I’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
